As someone who was (mostly) raised in Averill Park I love hearing stories of APers done well, and this is one of those tales.
Kate Quillinan Bowen (AKA Katie Quillinan back in our school days), who created Petit Peony, designed the navy dress and wool coat Ivanka Trump’s daughter Arabella wore last night. Kate posted the photo (right) to Instagram, writing “When @IvankaTrump asks you to design inaugural clothing for her children you first say YES and then totally panic on the inside.”
Quillinan, who now resides in Vermont, lived in Averill Park (and attended Holy Names) and her dad and uncle owned Miller’s — the grocery half our high school worked at at one time.
Regardless of how you feel about the incoming administration, it’s pretty cool that a local woman’s work is on the world’s stage, so to speak, at one of the most-watched events.
